INSPECTION OF BANANAS

Inspection of bananas after temperature control failure during transportation

Random inspection of boxes with damaged bananas

Banana Inspection is carried out to assess the apparent condition of bananas following alleged temperature control failures during transportation or storage. The survey provides independent documentation of cargo condition and assists in determining the apparent extent and possible causes of deterioration.

WHEN REQUIRED

Independent banana inspections are usually requested when bananas are suspected to have been affected by temperature deviations during transportation or storage. The survey assists owners, insurers, shippers and receivers in assessing the apparent condition of the cargo and documenting evidence relevant to insurance claims and cargo investigations.

The inspection may include examination of refrigerated containers, assessment of reefer unit settings, review of available temperature records, inspection of packaging condition, verification of pulp temperatures, banana quality assessment by cut tests and other observations in accordance with the agreed inspection scope.

SERVICE INCLUDES

REPORTING

A detailed Final Survey Report is issued together with comprehensive photographic documentation. The report records the apparent condition of the bananas, measured pulp temperatures where taken, available inspection findings, reefer settings where available, temperature records reviewed, cut test results, observed deterioration and other findings relevant to the agreed inspection scope.
