ON-HIRE & OFF-HIRE BUNKER SURVEY
Independent Determination of Bunker Quantities
A bunker survey is carried out to determine the quantities of bunkers remaining on board.
WHEN REQUIRED
An independent bunker survey helps the customer accurately establish the actual quantities of bunkers on board.
On-hire bunker survey. Performed on occasion of handing over the vessel from the Owners to the Charterers.
Off-hire bunker survey. Performed on occasion of returning the vessel back from the Charterers to the Owners.
SERVICE INCLUDES
- Measurements of all bunker tanks, including storage tanks, service tanks, settling tanks, and overflow tanks
- Taking soundings or ullages, depending on tank content, and taking gauge readings where applicable
- Measurement of fuel temperature in each measured tank
- Varification that the vessel trim tank calibration tables are Class-approved
- Application of temperature corrections
- Calculation of Remaining On Board (ROB) quantities for each declared grade
- On-Hire. Quantities of bunkers are recalculated back to the time and place of delivery
- Off-Hire. Quantities of bunkers are recalculated to the expected forthcoming time and place of re-delivery
- Preparation of bunker survey reports and certificates

Off-Hire. Preparation of the Bunker Survey Report and the Re-Delivery Certificate
A Bunker Survey Report contains detailed calculations showing the quantities of fuel remaining on board and all relevant measurements and calculations.
