An independent inspection of frozen cargo helps identify possible causes of temperature control failures, verify cargo, container or cold storage temperatures and review available temperature records, including data recorded during transportation.
WHEN REQUIRED
Frozen cargo inspections are usually requested when frozen cargo is suspected to have been damaged as a result of temperature deviations during transportation or storage.
The inspection may include examination of refrigerated containers, verification of cargo temperatures, inspection of packaging condition, assessment of container refrigeration settings, review of available temperature records and other observations in accordance with the agreed inspection scope.
SERVICE INCLUDES
- Inspection of refrigerated containers before and after discharge
- Attendance during container stuffing or de-stuffing
- Verification of cargo temperatures
- Assessment of the extent of damage
- Inspection for evidence of refreezing or temperature damage
- Inspection of packaging condition, including wet cartons, deformation and condensation where observed
- Review of container Tempertaure Data Logger records where provided
- Inspection of cargo condition at cold storage facilities where required
- Comprehensive photographic documentation
- Preparation of detailed survey reports
REPORTING
A detailed Final Survey Report is issued together with comprehensive photographic documentation. The report records the apparent condition of the cargo, measured temperatures where taken, inspection findings, observed damage, evidence of refreezing and temperture deviations, and other findings relevant to the agreed inspection scope.
