Independent Monitoring of Cargo Operations
Monitoring is carried out during loading and discharging operations to verify that cargo handling is performed in accordance with the agreed procedures and transshipment requirements. The survey provides independent observations of the cargo condition and handling process throughout the cargo operations on a 24-hour basis.
Independent monitoring helps owners, charterers, and cargo interests verify that cargo operations are carried out in accordance with the agreed procedures. Continuous attendance during loading or discharging helps minimise the risk of cargo contamination or improper handling.
The monitoring assignment may include continuous observation of cargo handling, verification of the apparent condition of the cargo, monitoring for contamination by foreign materials, recording of weather conditions affecting cargo operations, cargo stoppages, operational interruptions and other circumstances related to the handling process.
A detailed Monitoring Report is issued together with comprehensive photographic documentation. The report records daily observations, cargo handling activities, weather conditions affecting cargo operations, cargo stoppages, operational interruptions, observed irregularities and other relevant findings throughout the monitoring assignment.
The report provides independent documentary evidence supporting the client's operational and commercial requirements.
