Inspection and Supervision of Project Cargoes
Inspection of project cargo is carried out to verify the apparent condition of oversized, heavy and non-standard cargoes before loading, during loading operations or upon discharge. The survey provides independent documentation of cargo condition and verifies that loading, stowage and securing arrangements are performed in accordance with the agreed requirements.
Each cargo unit is individually inspected before loading or after discharge to verify its apparent visual condition. Particular attention is given to dents, deformation, scratches, corrosion, missing components, damaged packaging and any other visible deficiencies. Where required, cargo dimensions, shipping marks, identification numbers and specifications are verified against the available shipping documentation. The inspection may also include verification of packing condition, including wooden crates and steel frames. During loading operations, the surveyor supervises cargo handling, stowage and securing arrangements for cargo loaded in cargo holds, on the weather deck or on hatch covers, depending on the approved loading plan.

Independent inspection of project cargoes helps owners, charterers, insurers and cargo interests minimise the risk of disputes concerning cargo condition before shipment or upon delivery. Careful documentation and photographic evidence provide reliable records of any existing damage or deficiencies at the moment of inspection.
Any visible deficiencies observed during the inspection are carefully documented and, where required, reported to the client in the form of survey remarks.

REPORTING
