Independent Inspection of Steel Products Before Loading
A Steel Pre-Load Survey is carried out to verify the apparent condition of steel products before loading on board the vessel. Recommended remarks are prepared for each Mate's Receipt to reflect the apparent condition of the cargo before loading.
The pre-load survey may also include testing of the cargo for possible previous contact with salt water using a Silver Nitrate (AgNO3) solution.
An independent Steel Pre-Load Survey is carried out before loading to document the apparent condition of steel products and minimise the risk of cargo claims at the discharge port.
Observed damage, surface rust, packaging defects and broken strappings are identified before shipment, and appropriate remarks are prepared, as recommendations for inclusion in the relevant Mate's Receipt or Bill of Lading.
A detailed Final Survey Report is issued together with comprehensive photographic documentation, copies of Mate's Receipts and Brief Survey Reports. The report includes cargo descriptions, identification details, observed damages and survey remarks for each cargo consignment.
