WEIGHT CONTROL

Independent Supervision of Cargo Weighing Operations

Weight control point

Weight Control is carried out to independently supervise and verify cargo weighing operations during loading or discharging. The survey helps ensure that cargo quantities are accurately determined and that the weighing process is performed in accordance with the agreed procedures. The service may be performed for various cargoes, including grain, liquid bulk cargoes and scrap metal.

The surveyor attends the cargo handling operation and monitors the weighing process from the agreed control point. Supervision may be carried out at truck scales, railway wagon scales, or silo bunker scales, depending on the cargo handling arrangement. Particular attention is given to verifying that all cargo passes through the weighing system and that the weighing equipment is covered by valid calibration or verification certificates.

WHEN REQUIRED

Independent attendance during cargo weighing provides additional confidence to owners, charterers, traders and cargo interests that the declared cargo quantities are based on properly performed weighing operations.

The survey also helps minimise the risk of quantity disputes arising from incorrect weighing procedures.

SERVICE INCLUDES

REPORTING

Reporting consists of daily reports and a final survey report issued upon completion of the survey. The final report summarises the weighing operations, observations made during the survey and the final cargo quantities determined.
